Key Technical Responsibilities (Hands-on Focus):
S/4HANA Conversions & Migrations
Execution of readiness checks, CVI, and SDM/SDNI processes
Custom code adaptation and compatibility validation
Understanding of ECC vs S/4HANA architecture differences and in-memory computing impact
Hands-on experience with RISE with SAP architectural models, ECS operational procedures, and Cloud Managed Services governance
S/DB & Heterogeneous Migrations:
Execution of DMO (Database Migration Option) with SUM for direct migrations/conversions to HANA and Cloud.
Hands-on execution of Classical OS/DB Heterogeneous Migrations, System Copies, and landscape refreshes.
Kernel Upgrade & System Lifecycle:
End-to-end kernel upgrade execution and file distribution across instances
Understanding of DB-dependent vs independent files, patching and hotfixes
Kernel file management: disp+work ownership, permissions, and sticky bits configuration
SUM Execution:
Full lifecycle knowledge (phases, downtime, shadow instance)
Hands-on with SPDD/SPAU adjustments
Troubleshooting upgrade issues, including incomplete transports and open update resolution
Downtime optimization strategies and troubleshooting phase failures during migration cycles
Add-on Management & Package Installation:
Installation and maintenance of SAP add-ons via SPAM (SAP Patch Manager)
Understanding of PBS (Protected Business System / software components)
Handling TOC (Transport of Copies) for transport management
Knowledge of SPDD/SPAU behavior during add-on installations and how they differ from upgrade scenarios
SAP System Administration:
Work process analysis (SM50/SM66, OS tools like dpmon)
Trace/debug at work process level
Lock analysis (SM12) and performance troubleshooting
System recovery with open updates and downtime management
SAP Architecture & Connectivity:
ABAP + Java stack, dual-stack dependencies (ABAP/Java startup order, schema users), UME
DB connectivity (R3trans, DBACOCKPIT, HANA Studio)
Troubleshooting system startup and DB issues
Automation & Tooling:
Development and maintenance of automation scripts (Shell, Python) for upgrades, monitoring, and routine tasks
Building repeatable processes to reduce manual intervention
Critical Incident Handling (L3):
Final escalation point for complex issues
Root cause analysis and system recovery
