Job Description
Essential Job Duties:
Research, evaluate, and recommend networking hardware and software such as routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
Design, configure, or upgrade local/wide area networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN).
Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues with little guidance from senior members of the team.
Work within and assist with management of defined IT processes and procedures.
Work with little to no supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
Consult with senior peers on medium to complex projects.
Assist in overseeing the primary activities of individual contributors (see above) to ensure completion of tasks and attainment of departmental goals.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or equivalent experience.
Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP familiarity
Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Ability to multi-task
Knowledge of reference lab operations and processes a plus.
Knowledge and management of System Development Lifecycle Methodologies a plus.
Experience in maintaining technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution
Goal-oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Keenly attentive to detail
Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
High level of proficiency with PC-based software programs including MS Office suite, Visio, and project management tools.
Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with Cisco switches/routers, firewalls, and related device support.
Minimum of 3-7 years of experience planning and implementing local & wide area networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN) Minimum of 3-7 years of experience planning and implementing layer 2 network design and protocols (STP, VLAN)
Minimum of 3-7 years of experience planning and implementing enterprise networks with dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP)
Experience using and applying System Development Lifecycle Methodologies.
Previous experience in a reference lab or similar regulated/controlled environment.
Experience using automation platform such as Ansible
